Founder
Malcolm Pyles, MD
COIL was created out of necessity and vision. As a Black man with textured hair and a trained dermatologist, I personally experienced the lack of inclusive, evidence-based products for scalp issues like dandruff and hair disorders like traction alopecia. Frustrated by the limited effective and safe hair products for my community and patients, I started COIL to change that: to offer science-backed, personalized treatments that actually work—for your hair, your texture, and your lifestyle.
With advanced training under leading experts in hair disorders, I earned my medical degree from Stanford School of Medicine and completed ny dermatology residency at the Cleveland Clinic. This deep clinical knowledge and personal experience is combined into every COIL product.
